David Melbye, MD, FAAP

The best part about being a pediatrician is that my patients make me laugh everyday.

Professional interests:

I enjoy all areas of pediatrics including newborn care, tracking child development, health maintenance and injury prevention, infectious disease and asthma management.

Professional honors:

  • Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (what is this?).
  • Board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
  • Clinical professor at Medical College of Wisconsin, actively involved in medical student and pediatric resident education.

Personal history:

I have lived in southeastern Wisconsin for most of my life, the exception being my four years of undergrad at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. I am an avid sports fan. My favorite sport is baseball and my favorite team is the Brewers. I try to make it to as many games as possible each season and follow the rest on radio or TV. Much to my wife's dismay, I also closely follow football and basketball, both college and professional. Aside from sports, I also take pleasure in music, traveling and bicycling. Above all I enjoy spending time with my family. I live in Milwaukee with my wife Kristal, our daughters Kate and Anna and our golden retriever.

A personal message:

As a parent I understand and value the importance of having a comfortable and collaborative relationship with your child's pediatrician. I practice pediatrics by actively involving parents in their child's medical care and feel strongly about patient and parent education. I look forward to supporting and providing your child with the best possible medical care throughout their development from the newborn period to young adulthood. I have times available for parents to come and meet me in my office. My one request is that my patients don't get sick on Brewers' Opening Day! (smile)
