Personal history: Born in Honolulu, Hawaii and raised on Vashon Island, Wash., Dr. Kirschner left island life to attend Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt. On the way back "home," he stopped in Milwaukee to attend the Medical College of Wisconsin, and has stayed here ever since. Dr. Kirschner completed his residency in pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in 2000, and then provided primary pediatric care for the Oneida Indian Tribe outside of Green Bay until 2005. He returned to Milwaukee to spend a year with the Emergency Department at Children's Hospital before joining Westbrook Pediatrics in July of 2006. Dr. Kirschner currently lives in Wauwatosa with his wife and three daughters and generally enjoys the chaos of his daughters' full academic and social plates. He now keeps his "feet wet" with occasional rowing, sailing, fly-fishing and trips to Vashon to visit his parents who still live in his childhood home.
