Telephone calls

Your telephone calls are very important to us. We attempt to answer each call promptly at all times.

If you have questions about your child, you may be asked to leave a message for your pediatrician. Your pediatrician will return your call as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that doctors are not interrupted with phone calls while seeing patients, except in emergency situations.

Sometimes a problem cannot be resolved over the phone and we will recommend that you schedule an appointment so that an accurate diagnosis can be made.

After hour calls

Bayshore Pediatrics offers an after-hours answering service to address urgent parental questions and concerns. While this service is available to answer your questions and concerns, it should only be used for urgent medical situations. Non-urgent calls should be made during our regular office hours. Examples of non-urgent calls include:

  • Requests for prescription refills.
  • Dosing schedules for Tylenol or Motrin (review the dosing schedule dosing schedule).
  • Discussing your child's health problem that is chronic and not urgent in nature.
  • General feeding questions.
  • Behavioral problems.

If your child is sick with a common illness, check out our common illness page for helpful instructions for caring for your child at home.

One of our physicians is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. Note that the physicians do not have access to medical charts and therefore will not call in prescription refills after hours. To access the answering service for urgent needs, call our office for instructions. Be prepared to provide information regarding your child's name, age, problem and the telephone number you can be called back at.
