Immunizations

What to expect after your child receives immunizations:

  • Fever.
  • Localized swelling, soreness, redness.
  • Irritability.
  • If given the Varicella or MMR, a child may experience a rash, which can occur from the time the shot was given, up to two weeks after the shot was received.
  • Bruising.

 What you can do:

  • Tylenol or Ibuprofen (depending on age and weight).
  • Warm compress or warm bath.
  • Massage.

These are very common side effects that can last a few days. If you have any concerns, please discuss them with the doctor before leaving or call our office.
