Home wart care
The following home-care treatment may be used with plantar warts or for areas where less than five warts are present, such as a hand or finger. This procedure should be done every night for 4 to 6 weeks. It needs to be followed consistently to get rid of the wart.
-
Soak area where the wart is in warm water for 10-15 minutes.
-
Take an emery board and file down the core of the wart. The core of the wart may not always be sticking up above the skin surface when the procedure is first started, so filing may not be necessary at the start.
-
Apply Duofilm, Occlusal, Compound W® or a similar product to the wart surface. Apply two coats, waiting 30 seconds between the two treatments.
-
Cut a MediPlast® pad to fit the area and cover the wart.
-
Place a piece of one-inch first-aid tape over the MediPlast pad.
Instead of a Mediplast pad, you also can use duct tape to cover the wart after it has been treated. If you use duct tape, there is no need to use the first aid tape. |
